They can make you…well pretty much anything, because they have some great understanding of the products they work with, the environment of the moment, plus they have the incredible knack of reading their customer’s needs.
Chef's Choice Outstanding Chef
2022 winner - Janet Gray, The Fat Farmer
The Outstanding Chef produces innovative and creative menus, showing exceptional culinary techniques using only the finest ingredients. The kitchen under their leadership and guidance produces outstanding and consistent dishes for their guests, all whilst engaging the front of house team to be inspired by every dish that touches the pass. This chef is an inspiration in all aspects of cooking and sets the standards we have grown to expect in the Manawatu culinary scene.

2022 winner - Kerry Foster, Little Savanna
This individual entered the Manawatu hospo scene in 2019 and have been bringing a whole new energy to the industry ever since. They’re either turning heads on the cafe floor, bringing innovative ideas to the table, or nailing the big jobs as well as the smaller, less glamorous tasks. Everyone wants this person on their team.
Tootill Services Emerging Chef
2022 winner - Matt O’Hagan, Little Savanna
This year’s Emerging Chef is not only climbing the hospitality ladder but displays a passion and dedication for the industry in the kitchen. They are a confident, talented professional who demonstrates leadership potential with a great future in front of them. They have been in the industry for less than three years but in that time they have definitely made an impact.
